Miss Arvona Lucille Moore was born June 1, 1926 in Fort Gay, West Virginia to John L. Moore and Virginia Ratcliffe Moore. Her two siblings, Mrs. Yolanda Maxine Ferrell and the late Robert Henry Moore, were an important part of her life. As youngsters, they preoccupied themselves with the “simple things in life,” says Mrs. Ferrell, a resident of Huntington, WV.
Miss Moore moved to Louisa, KY in 1977, shortly after her mother suffered a fatal heart attack just a few weeks after her brother Robert succumbed to a heart attack. She worked many years for the Rice family in Louisa, juggling the responsibilities of her life around taking care of her nephew, Robert L. Burks, Jr.
Miss Moore moved to Jackson, MS to live with her nephew, Robert, and his wife, Linda, in June 2015, when her health declined to the point that she was unable to live by herself.
Her memory is lovingly cherished by her nephew, Robert L. Burks, Jr. and family: her sister, Yolanda Ferrell (the late William E. Ferrell) of Huntington, WV; nephews William E. Ferrell, Jr. of Maryland, Bret and Brent Ferrell of Huntington; and, Brian Keith Ferrell of Huntington. She also is remembered fondly by a host of great nephews and nieces, cousins, friends, and former neighbors.
