On Tuesday, September 22, 2020 The Louisa DAR held their monthly meeting in the Cafe’ of The Louisa First Baptist Church.
Those attending the meeting were (Regent) Lynn A. Courtney, Lynette Chaffin, Rose Pfost, Dottie Copley, Carolyn Thompson, Joyce Austin, Janice C. Spencer, Karen Maynard, Myrtle Walker, Jennifer Rose, Reba Whitt, Patty A. Ferrell, and Peggy Nelson.
Regent, Lynn Courtney called the meeting to order. They then said the DAR Ritual, followed by The Pledge of Allegiance. Rosie then read The American Creed to the group, followed by prayer, led by Lynette Chaffins.
The group took a recess to enjoy a table of snacks and goodies. The hostesses of these were ..Dottie Copley, Lynette Chaffin, Rose Post and Theresa Chaffin.
Next order of business was the drawing for the homemade quilt, that the chapter had been selling chances on. I was privledged to get to draw a name out of the box and the lucky winner was Tammy Lovely. Drawings for the door prizes winners attending the meeting were Joyce Austin, Myrtle Walker, Janice Spencer and Jennifer Rose. Congratulations to all!
The chapter remembered their members with health issues…Glenda Grayson, Myrtle Ann, Jessie, Wanda Clevenger, and Freddie Daniels. Prayers & get well soon to them! Glenda Grayson has returned to Louisa in an apartment and her and Mark are awaiting for the arrival of a new home.
They remembered those members with birthdays this month….Wanda Clevenger and Joyce Austin.
Lynn mentioned that the Smoky Valley joint sale with the Lion’s Club…Lynette, Karen, Rosie and Patty was a successful and fun day for them.
Theresa Chaffin put up posters around town in Louisa marking the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower.
The approval of minutes was made by Joyce Rose.
Lynette and Lynn-final Piece Maker sale will be held on October 3rd 2020, at the Food City parking lot, starting around 8:30 am. They will have aprons, and crafts to sell.
The DAR Christmas Party and auction will be held Tuesday 12-01-2020 at 1 pm. This will be in the Cafe’ at the First Baptist Church in Louisa.
The group discussed trying to do something for the Veterans and Jordan Center residents for Christmas.
The group is still collecting pop tabs and used ink cartridges.
The Hostesses for October will be Sheila Kensinger, Lynn Courtney and Theresa Chaffin.
Joyce was presented with a birthday cake and flowers for her birthday.
Meeting was adjourned by Regent Lynn Courtney.
