FROM 12:01 A.M., AUGUST 10 THRU TO 11:59 P.M., AUGUST 25, (16 DAYS) THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 137 PEOPLE ARRESTED FROM JOHNSON, LAWRENCE, MAGOFFIN, & MARTIN COUNTIES COMBINED, AND WERE BOOKED AT THE BIG SANDY REGIONAL DETENTION CENTER IN PAINTSVILLE.
22 OF THOSE ARRESTS WERE FROM LAWRENCE COUNTY.
SEPARATELY, SIX LAWRENCE COUNTY RESIDENTS WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN NEIGHBORING COUNTIES (3 IN MARTIN COUNTY, 2 IN CARTER COUNTY, AND 1 IN JOHNSON COUNTY).
ALSO, A MAN FROM FORT GAY, WEST VIRGINIA WAS ARRESTED IN PIKE COUNTY, KY., AND A BOYD COUNTY MAN WAS ARRESTED IN BOYD COUNTY, BOTH OF THEM FOR FAILURE TO APPEAR IN LAWRENCE COUNTY COURT.
PREVIOUSLY, FROM 12:01 A.M., JULY 30 THRU TO 11:59 P.M., AUGUST 9, (11 DAYS) THERE WAS AT LEAST 97 PEOPLE ARRESTED FROM JOHNSON, LAWRENCE, MAGOFFIN, & MARTIN COUNTIES COMBINED, AND WERE BOOKED AT THE BIG SANDY REGIONAL DETENTION CENTER IN PAINTSVILLE. 10 OF THOSE ARRESTS WERE FROM LAWRENCE COUNTY. SEPARATELY, THREE LAWRENCE COUNTY RESIDENTS WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN NEIGHBORING COUNTIES (2 IN MARTIN COUNTY, AND 1 IN ROCKCASTLE COUNTY).
THE NUMBER OF INMATES THAT WERE HOUSED AT THE BSRDC IN PAINTSVILLE AS OF 6:00 A.M., WEDNESDAY AUGUST 26, THERE WERE 186 INMATES.
HERE ARE THE LATEST TWENTY-TWO ARRESTED IN LAWRENCE COUNTY, ALONG WITH THE SIX OUT OF COUNTY ARRESTED, (PLUS THE TWO FAILURE TO APPEAR IN LAWRENCE COUNTY COURT SUBJECTS) ARE AS THE FOLLOWING:
Derek M. Nelson, 34, of Fort Gay, West Virginia; was arrested on August 10, 2020, at 8:05 P.M., by deputy Everett Chase Kirk, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:
• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 2ND OFFENSE (METHAMPHETAMINE),
• DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS.
According to the arrest report, deputy Kirk received a call from389 South 3 in reference to a male subject passed out behind the wheel at a residence that was not kis. Upon deputy Kirk arrival on the scene, and upon making contact, deputy Kirk observed the subject, identified as Derek Nelson, slumped over in the driverseat with multiple items of drug paraphernalia laying in the middle console and hanging out of the pocket of Derek Nelson.
Upon consent by Derek Nelson to deputy Kirk, he found multiple small dose baggies along with a gray small dose baggie with a crystal like substance that Derek Nelson advised deputy Kirk that it was methamphetamine.
William T. Marcum, 71, of Louisa, was arrested on August 11, 2020, at 1:19 P.M., by chief deputy Mason Keefer, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, & was charged with:
• CRIMINAL TRESPASSING-3RD DEGREE.
According to the arrest report, deputy Keefer stated that he received a call of a fight on a private property. Upon arrival, deputy Keefer spoke with the property owner, James Issac, who told deputy Keefer that he was involved in an old feud with Willam Marcum, Mr. Isaac stated that Mr. Marcum attempted to punch him.
Deputy Keefer stated that as he was arresting William Marcum, he told Mr. Marcum that he had warned previously he was to stay off the Isaac property.
Kenneth McKinster, 31, of Louisa, was arrested on August 11, 2020, at 8:40 P.M., by Trooper Forrest Newsome, of the Kentucky State Police, and was charged with:
• FAILURE TO APPEAR.
Amity Rae Ison, 30, of Louisa, was arrested on August 11,2020, at 10:36 P.M., by deputy Everett Chase Kirk, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, & was charged with:
• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE 1ST OFFENSE (HEROIN),
• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE 1ST OFFENSE (METHAMPHETAMINE),
• TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE,
• DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/ POSSESS.
According to the arrest report, deputy Kirk observed the subject, Amity Rae Ison, driving a vehicle while not wearing a seatbelt. Upon making contact with Amity Ison, deputy Kirk observed that the seatbelt was behind Ms. Ison, not properly worn. K9 Asko passively alerted suspicion on Amity Ison’s vehicle.
When officers asked Amity Ison to step out of the vehicle, Ison attempted to hide a syringe up her shirt but Louisa Police sergeant Steven Wilburn recovered the syringe before she could do so. Upon the search of Amity Ison’s vehicle, a crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine, was located along with pipes with residue and small dose baggies inside Amity Ison purse. Also found in a wallet belonging to Amity Ison was a brown substance believed to be Heroin was found wrapped up in a yellow piece of paper. Officers also observed a prescription of suboxone dated 08/10/2020 and had only 5 remaining out of 14.
Daniel Chapman, 27, of Louisa, was arrested on August 11, 2020, at 11:44 P.M., by sergeant Steven Wilburn, of the Louisa Police Department, and was charged with:
• FAILURE TO APPEAR,
• CONTEMPT OF COURT LIBEL/SLANDER RESISTANCE TO ORDER (2 SEPARATE CHARGE COUNTS). Daniel Chapman was also served a bench warrant for
• FLAGRANT NON-SUPPORT, by Lawrence County Sheriff Department deputy Julius Musick.
Estill Hayden Jr., 48, of Flat Gap,Kentucky; was arrested on August 12,2020, at 2:34 P.M., by Sheriff Chuck Jackson, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, & was charged with, via a grand jury indictment:
• PROHIBITED USE OF ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION SYSTEM TO PROCURE MINOR/PEACE OFF RE: SEX OFFENSES.
Tammy J. Evans, 48, of Louisa; was arrested on August 11, 2020, at 9:30 A.M., by deputy Melody Salyers, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department,& was charged with, via a bench warrant:
• BURGLARY – 2ND DEGREE.
Timothy Ray Young, 30, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; was arrested on August 13 ,2020, at 3:34 A.M.,by deputy Everett Chase Kirk, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, & was charged with:
• OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER/INFLUENCE ALCOHOL (189A.010(1B) – 3RD OFFENSE,
• OPERATING ON SUSPENDED OR REVOKED OPERATORS LICENSE.
According to the arrest report, deputy Kirk received a call of a male lying in the middle of the road on KY 3. upon arrival on the scene, deputy Kirk made contact with the subject, identified as Timothy R. Young, was standing beside a motorcycle in which Mr. Young advised deputy Kirk that he had laid over the motorcycle was fine as far as him not being injured. A NetCare Ambulance was on the scene, but Timothy Young refused treatment from the EMS.
Upon talking with Timothy Young, deputy Kirk stated that he observed that Mr. Young had bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcoholic beverage whenever Young would speak. Timothy Young advised deputy Kirk that he had consumed “a pint of Jim Beam” since midnight. SFST was administered. HGN-Lack of pursuit in both eyes, distinct nystagmus and maximum deviation in both eyes, and angle of onset prior t0 45 degrees in both eyes. WAT-during instructional phase Timothy Young could not keep balanced, during the walking phase Timothy Young stopped walking, made an improper turn, and took the wrong number of 9 steps back (13). OLS-used arms for balance and swaying was present. Implied consent was read, Timothy Young did not wish to contact an attorney, and gave consent for a breath test, he also did not want his own independent blood test.
Kentucky State Police Post 14 in Ashland advised deputy Kirk that Timothy Ray Young had a suspended drivers license.
Brett M. Thomas, 30, of Fort Gay, West Virginia; was arrested on August 13, 2020, at 10:30 A.M.,by court security officer Melody Salyers, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, & was charged with, via two bench warrants:
• THEFT OF IDENTITY OF ANOTHER,
• FRAUDULENT USE OF A CREDIT CARD.
Carrie S. Wages, 37, of Blaine, Kentucky; was arrested on August 13,2020, at 1:06 P.M.,by court security officer Melody Salyers,of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, & was charged with, via a grand jury indictment:
• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE 1ST OFFENSE (HEROIN),

John Trevor Lewis, 32, of Ocala, Florida; was arrested on August 15, 2020, at 1:50 A.M., by detective Hunter James, of the Louisa Police Department, and was charged with:

Billy J. Lemaster, 35, of Louisa; was arrested on August 17, 2020, at 2:13 P.M., by Sheriff Chuck Jackson, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, and was charged with,via a grand jury indictment:
• WANTON ENDANGERMENT-1ST DEGREE (2 SEPARATE CHARGE COUNTS).
Cynthia C. Broyles, 19, of Louisa, was arrested on August 18, 2020, at 10:39 P.M., by sergeant Steven Wilburn, of the Louisa Police Department, and was charged with:

Johnathan A. Steven M. Jude, 27, of Louisa, was arrested on August 18, 2020, at 10:54 P.M., by detective Hunter James, of the Louisa Police Department, and was charged with:

Cody L. Starr, 35, of Blaine, Kentucky; was arrested on August 21, 2020 ,at 7:40 P.M., by deputy Dwayne Bowen, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, and was charged with
: • CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, 3RD DEGREE.
According to the arrest report, deputy Bowen received a call from Melissa West, who told deputy Bowen that Cody Starr had tried to run over her kid and a neighbor’s kid, and while doing so, Cody Starr ran over a dirt bike.
When deputy Bowen spoke to Cody Starr , he told deputy Bowen that the kids had destroyed 100 feet of his crops and that he did follow the kids back to the house, and was in a verbal argument with Melissa West, but Cody Starr denied that he tried to run over anyone, but Mr. Starr did admit he had accidentally hit the dirt bike when he was leaving.
Micheal Shawn Cordle, 45, of Blaine; Kentucky; was arrested on August 24, 2020,at 6:31 P.M., by deputy Julius Musick, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, and was charged with,via a grand jury indictment:

Eric D. Clevenger, 38, of Webbville ,Kentucky; was arrested in Carter County, on August 13, 2020, at 8:13 P.M., by trooper Travis Cundiff, of the Kentucky State Police, Post 14-Ashland Ky., and was charged with:

Steven R. Messer, 40, of Fort Gay, West Virginia; was arrested in Pike County, on August 21,2020,at 12:37 P.M.,by trooper Jason McClellan, of the Kentucky State Police, Post 9-Pikeville,Ky., & was charged with, via seven outsanding indictment bench warrants from Lawrence County:

• OPERATING BOAT/WATERCRAFT WHILE INTOXICATED OR UNDER/INFLUENCE,1ST OFFENSE,

Steven Messer had bond amounts set on 6 of his charges by two Lawrence County court judges. Lawrence County District Judge, John T. Chafin, who ordered a $500 full cash only on Mr.Messer’s Failure To Appear charge, while Lawrence County Circuit Judge, John David Preston, had ordered a $5,000 full cash only bond on Steven Messer on the five Wanton Endangerment charges.
Steven Ray Messer was transported on August 25, 2020, from the Pike County Detention Center, in Pikeville, Ky., and was booked at 12:20 P.M. to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, in Paintsville, Ky., in Johnson County, on Mr. Messer’s Lawrence County charges.
Dolores Jean Redwine, 56, of Louisa, was arrested in Carter County,on August 22,2020, at 12:18 A.M., by trooper Bradley Couch, of the Kentucky State Police, Post 14-Ashland Ky., & was charged with:
