HUNTINGTON, W.VA. — Steve Ray Meeks, 62, of Louisa, Ky was sentenced to five years and three months in a federal prison for robbing Community Bank & Trust in Fort Gay, WV. Wayne County, U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart said in a
press release. Meeks was sentenced in Federal court in Huntington, WV. Meeks admitted to the crime of stealing $32,000 in January 2018. That he also brandished a BB gun during the crime that was later found where he fled on foot.
In his statement to authorities Meeks said he threw large amounts of cash out of his vehicle’s driver side window during a police pursuit into Louisa, KY. Where Wayne County Sheriff Department followed, and Meeks was eventually apprehended. He had intended to do the robbery the day before, but the bank had already closed for the day.
