One killed, one airlifted in truck collision on Corbin bypass
A Cumberland Valley Electric truck driver has been killed and a UPS tractor trailer driver was airlifted from the scene after their trucks collided on the Corbin bypass Wednesday morning.
Firefighters and emergency personnel were paged to the scene approximately one mile west of Ky. 26 at approximately 8:45 a.m.
The UPS truck was a semi hauling two trailers. The Cumberland Valley Electric vehicle was hauling multiple utility poles.
Police said there were not witnesses to the crash. The remains of the UPS truck sat on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes. The front of the Cumberland Valley truck had run into the side of one of the trailers.
Corbin firefighters extricated the UPS driver from his truck.
A PHi Air Medical helicopter was landed at the scene.
The names of the drivers have not been released.
The Corbin bypass remains closed in both directions and officials estimated it would be several hours until the scene is cleared.
