4th of July storm blasts Paintsville; Some report seeing ‘funnel’

Officials in Paintsville said a Wednesday night storm caused considerable damage in the city’s downtown.
Local media reports roofs off homes, a business without a roof, a church without a steeple and several trees down.
More than 1,000 Kentucky Power customers lost their electricity as the storm hit.
Some residents reported seeing a funnel cloud go through the town.
The National Weather Service plans to survey the storm damage this (Thursday) morning.
Outlying areas of Johnson County were not as hard hit, officials said.
