LADY DAWGS TO FACE KEETON’S LADY TIGERS AT HIGH NOON
PAINTSVILLE, KY. — The Baseball and Softball Fields at Johnson Central will be jam packed as the 15th Region tournaments kick off with four games on Memorial Day beginning at 11:00 and the last game Scheduled at 6:30 Monday night (tonight).
In the first game of the Softball tourney at Noon Lawrence Co. (26-8) the 58th champs will take on former 57th rival Paintsville (21-12), coached by former Bulldog coaching legend Randy Keeton. The two teams played once in the regular season with the Lady Dawgs squeaking out a 2-1 home victory as Ciana Bowen struck out 17 Lady Tigers.
On the Baseball side the Dawgs (30-7) will face former 60th foe Phelps (17-9) at 4:00pm in the third game of the quadruple header. The two teams didn’t meet in the regular season.
Both tournaments should be very exciting with Lawrence Co. having legitimate shots at winning both.
The Bulldogs haven’t been to the State tourney since 2015 and the Lady Dawgs haven’t been since 2009.
MATCHUPS
In the second game of the Softball tourney at 2:00 it will be 60th winner Pike Co. Central ( 23-12 ) vs 59th Runner Up Shelby Valley ( 12-13 ) with 12:00 and 2:00 winners facing off Tuesday at 5:00.
In the third game at 4:00 it will be 57th Winner and host Johnson Central vs 58th Runner Up Floyd Central ( 12-20 ).
In the last game of the first round it will be 59th Winner Pikeville ( 28-9 ) facing 60th Runner Up Belfry ( 17-16 ) and those winners playing at 7:00 Tuesday night.
The Softball Championship game will be Thursday night at 6:30.

In the opening game of the baseball tournament it will be 59th Champ Pikeville ( 18-11 ) facing off with 58th Runner Up Betsy Layne ( 7-21 ) at 11:00.
In the second game it will be 60th Champ Pike Co. Central ( 23-5 ) vs Host and 57th Runner Up Johnson Central ( 20-14 ) at 1:30.
Those winners will play at 5:00 Tuesday night.
In the last game of the day at 6:30 it will be 57th Champ Paintsville ( 22-12 ) vs 59th Runner Up Shelby Valley ( 14-14 ).
The winner of that game will take on the winner of Lawrence Co./ Phelps at 7:30 Tuesday night.
The Baseball Championship game will be at 7:00 on Wednesday night.
