October DAR meeting jam packed with information, special guests, and future projects
The October meeting on the 24th held in the Cafe of the LFBC was Jam packed with information, special guests, and future projects.The meeting was called to order by Regent Sabrina May and proceeded with opening Rituals.
Guest speaker, Mayor Harold Slone spoke about the completion of the Locks observation deck and Kiosk at Riverview Park. He thanked the DAR for help in the planning stages of the park and discussed future projects.
Sixth District Director Judy Carter was introduced and she congratulated the DAR on the 75th anniversary of the Chapter plus State Regent Leslie Miller sent a message of congratulations.
Former Regents Teresa Pigg and Peggy Nelson were honored and Jessie Salyer was recognized for being the longest member and a two term Regent.
Patricia Hatfield talked about the annual DAR (FREE) community book distribution on Saturday, November 4th from 10:00 to 12:00 in the meeting room at the Lawrence County Library.
November meeting we’ll be honoring Veterans with a Pot Luck Dinner in honor of their service. VFW and American Legion members and their spouses are invited as well as spouses of any DAR member who are Vets.
November 22th is the deadline to RSVP for the annual Christmas Dinner and Auction on December 8th.
Hostesses were Teresa Pigg and Patricia Hatfield who provided sandwiches, two kinds of soup, a decorated cake and punch.
Next meeting is November 28th at 6:00 pm in the Cafe of the Louisa First Baptist Church.
