October 20, 2017
It is hard to believe that tonight is Senior night at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium for the Dawgs. The 2017 season has flown by as Lawrence Co. (5-4) and 2-1 in District play needs a win to secure the #2 seed and wrap up a home game in the first round of the playoffs.
The Bulldogs will face Floyd Central ( 5-3 ) and 1-2 in District play for the first time ever. If the Jaguars win that would force a 3 way tie for second place and set up tie breakers for seeds 2-4 and may send the Dawgs on the road for a long trip in two weeks.
Lawrence Co. is averaging 32 points per game on offense and giving up 32 points per game on defense. The Dawgs are led by junior QB Noah West with over 1,300 yards and 22 touchdowns, Dalton Ferguson is next with over 600 yards and 7 touchdowns, Ashton Blankenship over 500 yards and 5 touchdowns, Trey Dotson has scored twice, Jarrett Fairchild and Baden Gillispie once, Caleb Fletcher has kicked 12 extra points on the year.
Brad Parks and Jaxon Johnson have both caught touchdowns from West.
Floyd Central is averaging 31 points per game and giving up 21 points per game. The Jaguars are very balanced on offense with QB Dylan Caudill rushing for 600 yards and throwing for 450 yards, Caudill has 6 touchdowns on the ground and 4 in the air. Elijah Cotton has 7 touchdowns and over 300 yards, Josh Whitaker has over 400 yards and 6 touchdowns, Koby Slone has over 400 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Brady Conn is the top receiving threat with 3 touchdowns and over 200 yards receiving.
TOLSIA has bye week
Tolsia ( 2-6 ) is off this week after losing 48-14 at Tyler Consolidated.
