There is a phone scam going around again where the phone number can either an unknown number or it appears to be local number which sometimes has the name of a local person that you might even know.
The scammer/caller is spoofing a local number so that you will answer. When you answer it will likely be a computer generated voice which sounds like an actual person.
The initial conversation can vary but at some point they will ask, “Can you hear me?” One starts out by saying they are a Trip Advisor and actually says the call is being recorded and then asks, “Can you hear me?” Just hang up and do not answer as the ” Yes” will be used later by the scammer to commit fraud under your name. Below are links to a couple news stories on the scam.
