An Inez man will spend the rest of life behind bars for his role in the murder of three people in Martin County nearly three years ago.
43 year old Jack D. Smith was in Lawrence County Circuit Court on Friday morning May 12, where due to the high profile nature of the crime, his case was moved to from Martin County to Lawrence County court, where had there been a trial, Smith would have been tried for his crimes in Louisa.
On the conclusion of his triple murder case, Jack Smith ultimately received three sentences of life in prison without the possibility of parole on each of the three murder charges.
Smith pleaded guilty last month to shooting and stabbing Tina Goble, her boyfriend Cainie Johnson Jr. and Goble’s 8-year-old granddaughter Trinity Maynard.
The three were found inside a burned out house in Inez back in August 2014.
Numerous family members of the three murder victims gave statements to Jack Smith during the sentencing.

In an act of mercy that surprised people watching in court, Tina Goble’s sister expressed a move of spiritual forgiveness, as she gave Jack Smith a Bible she hopes that Smith will read.
