On April 11, 2017, Sheriff Rick Thompson announced arrests made by the US Marshalls Cuffed Task Force in two separate investigations conducted by the Wayne County Sheriff Department Drug Enforcement Unit.
The first arrest was made on North Jefferson Drive off Spring Valley in Wayne County and the second in Stepptown. The two investigations were not connected. However; both cases involved a Detroit source of supply.
Sheriff Thompson along with the Wayne County Sheriff Department Drug Enforcement Unit, WCSD Deputies, and the WVSP searched a residence on North Jefferson Drive after an investigation conducted by the WCSD Drug Enforcement Unit.
Officials collected evidence used for Manufacturing Methamphetamine, several baggies of HEROIN, and evidence for packaging and cutting HEROIN. Three arrests have been made as a result of the investigation.
Angela Davis of South Point, OH is charged with (2) counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance (HEROIN), Operating or Attempting to Operate a Clandestine Drug Laboratories, Precursors for Meth, and Conspiracy.
Conner Arthur, aka “L” of Detroit, MI is charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance (HEROIN), Possession with Intent to Deliver (HERION), and Conspiracy.
Michael Fritz of South Point, OH is charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver (HEROIN), Operating or Attempting to Operate a Clandestine Drug Laboratories, Precursors for Meth, and Conspiracy. More arrests are expected in connection to the search made in this case.
Also arrested in a separate investigation was John Sammons and Angie Perry-Sammons of Stepptown. John is charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance (HEROIN), Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Oxycodone), and Conspiracy. Angie was also charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance (HEROIN), Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Oxycodone), and Conspiracy. The WCSD Drug Enforcement Unit made several undercover drug purchases from the suspects in Stepptown. The Detroit source of supply has been arrested by another agency.
Sheriff Thompson stated that “the work of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department Drug Enforcement Unit has made a major impact on the trafficking of drugs within our county”.
