Swinson gets 300 months in federal prison
On a recent Lawrence County docket, the case concerning Larry Swinson, 45, of Lawrence County, was dismissed after him being charged with 5 counts of Kidnapping a minor, 3 counts of Use of a Minor in Sexual Performance and 2 counts of Prohibited Use of Electronic Communication to Procure Minor in Sex Offense.
The public was puzzled as to why the charges were dropped. It was shortly revealed that the case was dismissed in state Circuit Court due to the fact that it was picked up by the federal court system.
In US Federal Court, the defendant, Larry Swinson pled guilty to count three of the indictment, Production of Child Pornography after a previous conviction in North Carolina.
A comprehensive psychological evaluation was completed before sentencing to try to figure out why the defendant continued his behavior after a previous conviction in North Carolina.
The defendant was diagnosed with an adjustment disorder, depressed mood and anxiety disorder along with a sexual disorder.
Along with the facts and circumstances of this case, the defendant was sentenced to 300 months with an enrollment in a comprehensive mental health treatment program in prison.
According to the indictment, the case span over two counties, Lawrence County and Carter Co., both in Eastern Kentucky.
