LOUISA, KY. — The courtroom was filled on Friday, December 9th, as it appears some have been naughty, and Santa won’t be stopping at their house. One man charged with kidnapping, use of a minor in a sex offense and using a computer to procure the minor had the Commonwealth to move to dismiss charges.
Many of the case that were in court were reset and not much information was given. If you have never been through a court process, it is very difficult to understand why some people are on the docket several times. The court process is a long process, sometimes dragging out over a year. That is because people are given up to three offers on a sentence before the court spends the money for the trial. Those on the dockets are called status hearings. It is only if they have the evidence to take a person to trial, and he/she turns down the offers from the Commonwealth that they are set a trial date.

Amanda Grim, 34 Pled guilty on CONVICTED FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM and was sentenced to 3 years probated over 5 years, and 180 days of home incarceration. This case was to run consecutive with another case of THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING, in which she was sentenced to 3 years probated over 5 plus other conditions.
