Sharon Gay Johnson
1948 – 2016
Sharon Gay Johnson, 68, of Griffiths Creek, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on December 9, 2016. Born March 5, 1948 in Louisa, Kentucky to the late Arch and Emma Maynard Thompson.
She was a devoted member of the Favored United Baptist Church. A retired cafeteria worker of the Lawrence County School System. She loved gardening, canning and preparing meals for her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, her sisters, Violet Carpenter, Jean Cyrus, Elizabeth Pollock, Pauline Dacey and an infant brother, Lonnie Thompson.
Survivors include, her loving husband of 53 years, Burnard Johnson, her two children, daughter, Shelley Denise Phelps and husband Paul; son, Darren Dwayne Johnson and wife Stephanie; her three grandchildren, Damon Paul Phelps, Tristan Chance Johnson and Trey Alexander Phelps; she is also survived by one brother, Stanley Thompson, as well as special nieces, Marsha Johnson, Alicia North and Stacy Pollock; a very special nephew and God Son, James A. Pollock and three God grandchildren, Tyler McClelland, Maci Pollock, and Talan Pollock, church family and friends.
A special Thank You to all of those loving people who helped throughout her illness.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Young Funeral Home Chapel with Elders, Clarence Thompson Jr., A.J. Williamson, Bob Mollette Jr., and Brother Ira Preston officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Louisa, Ky.
Visitation will be held 6:00 -9:00 PM Monday at Young Funeral Home Chapel.
