2016-17 Tolsia Lady Rebels
Fort Gay, WVa. — After winning a Region championship and getting back to the State Tournament for the first time since 2010, the Tolsia Lady Rebels are poised for another run — this time in Single A after class realignment. Tolsia went 14-12 and lost to #1 Wyoming East in the first round in Charleston. They also went 9-5 in the always tough Cardinal Conference.
Coach Ric Morrone has won 369 games heading into his 24th year coaching the Lady Rebels.
Tolsia returns five of their top six players to this year’s team including Tasha Nichols, Mariah Finley, Sarah Jude and Marlee Marcum plus they get back Taylor Parsley who left the team last season to concentrate on cheerleading.
The Lady Rebels have 14 players on this year’s team and field a JV team for the first time in years.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… We got good numbers this season and that’s a change from years past, that’s really how you build a program and really excited about that. We got a lot of experience back and we also have some new faces so we really have a nice mix of girls.” We have a good freshman group that brings a new energy and excitement plus we have some juniors and seniors as well.” We dropped to single A and went right into a tough section with Huntington St. Joe, Buffalo, Hannah, Tug Valley, Van and Sherman so they won’t be many nights off for this group. We always play a tough schedule and that gets us ready for Postseason play.” In Region 4 it will be tough as well with Ravenswood, Wirt Co. Williamstown and Parkersburg Catholic it is a wide region with some travel involved. We will go to Gatlinburg if everything is ok down there plus we play in the West Virginia HIT tourney which is always good competition.” We had a tough summer with girls trying to fit in and see what their role was going to be but we have improved in practice and hopefully by the end we will be playing our best basketball.”
