Louisa, Ky. — The Annual Powder Puff football game between the Lawrence Co. Senior and Junior Girls could not be settled in regulation as the the score was knotted at 0-0 before the Juniors pulled out a 12-6 Double overtime victory on Monday night at Luke Varney Jr memorial stadium.
Junior QB Hannah Rucker found Semarra Akers all alone for a touchdown in the second overtime. The defense stopped the Seniors at the two yard line on fourth down, to set off a wild celebration in one of the most intense football games I have witnessed in years. Both teams laid it all on the line in this annual game.
Both teams had chances inside the opponents 5 yard line in regulation but the defense played lights out for both teams. Juniors Ciana Bowen and Seirra Jude were all over the field, Junior Britney Shapaka had an INT. Seniors Makenzie Frazier and Raegan Crum were both on a bunch of tackles.
Senior Raegan Crum scampered 10 yards on the first play to tie the game at 6 but they also missed the conversion to win it to send the game into a second overtime before the Juniors would prevail.
Adysan Crum and Cassell had some nice carries for the Juniors. Senior QB Emily Maynard and receiver Allyson Bellomy hooked up for a completion. Crum and Frazier both ran the ball hard for the Seniors.
