Former LMS vice-principal says she is ‘following God’s will’ in new job in Boyd County
Former Louisa Middle school assistant principal Kimberly Fitch is the new principal at Boyd County Middle School taking over for Bill Boblett who held the position for 15 years. She will have her hands full as the school is in full renovation mode.
“I like a challenge and this will be one,” she said.
When asked about her decision to leave LMS she stated, “I have been teaching since 2000. I taught elementary for 10 yrs and then moved to the high school following the beginning of the state turn around process.”
“I worked as the literacy interventionist at LCHS and became assistant principal at LMS in 2013, I decided to apply only because I felt led by God to do so,” Ms. Fitch said.
She says she got plenty of experience in Lawrence County.
“My time in Lawrence County provided me with wonderful opportunities to make a difference in the lives of children. I learned valuable procedures and protocols through the turn around process, that are now part of how I do business,” Fitch said. “Any decisions made to serve our students were based on student data. The team I worked with at LCHS was the best team I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. We were flexible and made changes based on best practice. We relied on each other’s strengths.”
She has lots of memories and experiences to share.
“One particular moment I remember was when we decided to observe each other’s classes and then returned back to class to try what we saw in our peers’ class. It is that type of professional learning that I hope to share with my staff at BCMS.”
She said she will use that and other things she learned while in Lawrence County.
“Lawrence Co. has hard working teachers who love kids,” Fitch said. “I know great things are in store for LC. I will miss the students and staff there. While I hated to say goodbye, I know God has big plans to use me for his glory.”
Ms. Fitch is looking forward to working with her new staff in Boyd county. She has moved in and made plenty of contacts already.
“This is definitely a journey that I am thrilled to be on,” she said. “Following God’s plan for my life is my desire. I am honored to have been chosen to serve BCMS staff, students and parents. They have welcomed me with open arms. It is a GREAT day to be a WiLDCAT.”
