2016 Lawrence County VolleyDawgs
LOUISA, Ky. — First year Lawrence Co. Volleyball Coach Kelly Chapman is extremely excited to take over the reigns from April York even though that wasn’t the plan. York stepped down after two years on the job with Chapman as her assistant coach.
The Dawgs went 8-20 last year and will return some key starters from that team. Most notable returnees will be two sophomores in Lexie Workman, Aryana Chapman and Senior Katelyn Thompson who at times carried the VolleyDawgs last season. Senior Hannah Goble and Isabella Handley have both improved from last year and Newcomer Alexis Ratliff will see playing time as well.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… I’m excited to get the season started and so are the girls. I think we are moving in the right direction with the program, We have a lot of core varsity players back from last year’s team and a lot of versatility which helps a ton. We have girls that can play multiple spots on the court.
I look for us to improve on our win total and compete in our district, we don’t have as many games this year on the schedule by design. I think our team was a little fatigued by the end of last year.”

“Chemistry has been very good so far, I’m also looking for more consistency. We don’t have as many players as we did last year. Sixteen total on the roster but I feel that those sixteen want to be here and that will prove dividends at the end of the year.”
The VolleyDawgs will open up the season on August 15th at Prestonsburg and will play at home on August 18th vs Sheldon Clark.
