Does anyone read Lazer Articles?

The lead-in to my last report was “Did you miss me last week? Please don’t answer!”
I now know the answer to that question; if you make a mistake, you certainly find that the column is read. Here is what you must know, the blunder I made is not a retraction in a newspaper below the last column on the classified ads; the admission of my error is out front. Last week I said, “Jeff, our course superintendent, J. Lynn See and I had a long conversation about the course.”
My error was calling our course superintendent “Jeff” instead of his actual name, “Rodney.” I blame this for having only known Rodney for 5-years, playing with him in the golf league, and speaking to him many times on the course since he first arrived. I guess this is called short-term memory loss. That is my story, and I’m sticking to it.
Next, you must be apprised of all who read the Lazer. Mike Sullivan, our former Park Superintendent, asked: “when did we get a new course superintendent?” I must tell you that the reach of the Lazer is much further than you think.
This column is written for fun and edification. I must say that making an error may have been one of my better “mistakes,” although I have many gaffes to choose from. It gave me the knowledge that the Lazer has a larger audience than one may think.
The day after the Lazer article was published, J. Lynn and I were again on the course. Here comes Rodney in his Gator coming straight toward us. One could tell he was on a mission. As he was pulling up, J Lynn in his always helpful manner, said: “Jeff, how are you doing today?” Rodney grinned and asked me why I didn’t use his correct name. J Lynn answered saying I was a victim of “old timers” disease. Actually, I apologized to Rodney, and he was happy with the content of the article.
To continue the reaction to my article, Missy said that everything I said about her was true. Then, Telia and Dinah asked why I didn’t write about them. Other than saying they are courteous, smart, good-looking, and considerate individuals who care for and about all the golfers, I have nothing to say about them.
On Memorial Day, I went out to Eagle Ridge in the afternoon to take some pictures for a power point presentation. Jim Ratliff was my chauffeur. As Jim drove me around, the course was in beautiful shape, the Bermuda grass had greened, and the fairways were lush. The greens looked perfect, and I found a lot of shots to present the course in its championship form. Along the way, I found the Kennedy family on a family outing. Cute little Morgan was playing with her mom and dad, and I was able to capture her golf swing, which is amazing.
Tuesday was an ideal day for playing golf. As I said, the fairways were good, and the greens were rolling true and fast but not as fast as they will be in a week or so. There were some terrific scores turned in. How about Bobby Preece with 4-birdies and Jody Warf with three.
