Willard Lee Damron known as “Bill” and “Papal Bill” 79, passed suddenly and peacefully from this life into the arms of Jesus at his home in Fort Gay, WV on November 8, 2024.
Willard was born on May 12, 1945 in Fort Gay, WV to the late Mabel Margaret and Willard Lee Damron. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Darlene Robinette, Geraldine Ferguson, Clarice Thompson, and brothers Keith and Dennis Damron.
Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Doris Ann Damron of Fort Gay and his precious son Timothy Lee Damron and wife Kim of Grayson, Ky. Their son Joshua Damron and wife Kelsie have a daughter, Ella Louise 4yrs old, and a son Briar Lee, 17months old. They reside in Hurricane WV. Their daughter Candice Huddle and husband Quinn Huddle have a daughter Harper Anniston, 20 months old and reside in Grayson, Ky. “Papal Bill” loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren so very much and was always there to support them throughout their entire lives. He cherished their times together as a family. He loved him so much!
Bill and Doris married on July 4th 1964 in Fort Gay, WV when they were both 19 years old. Bill was working in Mansfield, Ohio at the time and later moved back to Fort Gay in 1967 and started working as a truck driver at Persinger Supply Company (now House-Hasson) in Prichard, WV. He was employed for approximately 26 years. He retired in 2006 following an accident.
Bill gave his heart to the Lord in 2014 at the age of 69 years old. He was baptized on September 11, 2014 by Bro. Virgil Pack and Bro. Adam Hoosier after many years of attending church at the Upper Tabors Creek FWB. He was a faithful member of the church since September 20, 2014 where he and Doris grew to love their church family very much throughout the years.
He especially loved his brother in laws Joe Marcum and his wife Maxine and Harry Belcher and his wife Pam with a host of special nieces and nephews that knew him as a wonderful uncle.
Everyone loved Bill and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His family and friends will cherish all the wonderful memories that they’ve had with him all these years until they see him again in Heaven. 2 Cor. 5:8 …We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday November 12, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Virgil Pack and Pastor William Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Damron Cemetery, Fort Gay WV.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday November 11, 2024 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel.
