Louisa, Ky. — It’s week number two of the football season and the Lawrence Co. Bulldogs ( 1-0 ) will host the Shelby Valley Wildcats ( 0-2 ) on Friday at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium.
The Dawgs scored 28 unanswered points to beat Rowan Co. last Friday night at home.
Junior QB #2 Luke Fetherolf completed 11 of 16 passes to five different receivers. He ended up with 166 yards and two touchdowns along with 2 rushes for 33 yards.
Sophomore RB #4 Caven Williams led the Dawgs on the ground with 118 yards and two touchdowns, Sophomore Kaden Johnson had 5 carries for 21 yards, Freshman Chandler Preece and Gray Derifield had 1 carry and 1 yard each.
Sophomore #21 Carlo Chicko was the leading receiver with 5 catches for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns, Junior Braxton Davis had 1 catch for 25 yards, Johnson had 5 catches for 21 yards, Derifield 1 catch for 11 yards, Williams caught 2 passes for 7 yards.
Junior Placekicker Brayden Queen was 4 for 4 on point after touchdowns in the victory.
On defense the Bulldogs were led by Seniors #73 Colin Howard and Caden Thompson with 8 tackles each, Chicko and Senior Josh Spillman had 5 tackles each, Senior Charlie Fletcher and Sophomore Andrew Ratcliffe had 4 each, Senior Aden Handley, Sophomore Hayden Blagg, Davis, Williams and Preece had 3 each, Sophomore Colbie Prince, Derifield, Johnson and Junior Brady Nelson had 1 tackle each.
Sophomore Ty Brooks and Davis both had fumble recoveries.
Shelby Valley traveled to Letcher Co. Central and fell 47-12 last Friday.
QB Brady Johnson connected with Peyton Combs from 8 yards out for their first touchdown. And Combs scored from 11 yards out in the second half.
Bryce Bentley, Kyler Click along with Kolton Stamper and Lincoln Taylor are players to watch.
Shelby Valley shocked Lawrence Co. last year in week two 14-0 on the road.
