Prestonsburg, Ky. — Lawrence Co. Golf will send three to the Class 2A state tournament after finishing runner-up in the Boys and Girls Section 8 tournament at Stonecrest Tuesday.

Reece Hughes won the tournament on the last hole.

Reece Hughes, Tylan Perry, Mikey Akers, Ashton West, Deuce Marcum
Class 2A Section 8 Runner-Up
Lauren Sammons, Abby Runyon, Taylor Blevins, Kailey Prince, Aubrey Brady
Kailey Prince and Abby Runyon finished second and third respectively to qualify for the state tournament.
The Class 2A State Tournament will be held September 16th and 17th and the Owensboro Country Club.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Proud of our kids performance in the 2A Section 8 tournament. Our boys and girls finished 2nd overall. Reece Hughes came up to the last hole tied for the lead at 1 under and was able to make a birdie to win. Kailey Prince and Abby Runyon were 2nd and 3rd overall individual girls scores which qualified them to move on with Reece to the 2a state championship.”
“… Proud of them for their work in the off season, it really showed in their performance. Our kids were faced with 95 degree plus weather, on the course for over six hours, walking and didn’t give up when some other had to drop out due to the weather. Thankful to be apart of the 2A championships.”
