Louisa, Ky. — In a very physical contest on opening night, the Lawrence Co. boys basketball team outlasted West Carter 67-63 on Tuesday.

The Dawgs were led by Senior Andrew Bloomfield with 20 points, Freshman Hayden Perry knocked down 5 three pointers and finished with 19 points, Seniors Blake Marcum and Ford Scaggs along with Sophomore Luke Fetherolf had 7 points each, Senior Logan Ratliff added 4 points and Sophomore Braxton Davis chipped in with 3 points.

Lawrence Co. hit 8 three pointers and went 9 of 12 from the free throw line.
The Comets were led by Jordan Fuston with 20 points, Brett Dailey added 18 points, Jacob Waddell had 8 points, Nick Parker tallied 4 points and Brody Boggs chipped in with 2 points.
West Carter hit one three pointer and went 18 of 24 from the free throw line.

The Dawgs will host Coal Grove ( OH ) on Friday night before traveling to Morgan Co. on Saturday afternoon at 1:30.
The Comets will return to action with a trip to Fairview on Thursday night.

COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Always great to start the season with a win. We are very thankful for that. It will be good to go back and watch this film and learn from some of our mistakes. Careless fouls and box outs have to be better however, there are also a lot of positives that came from it. We had some young guys really step up and do some good things for us. Several kids hit shots when we really needed them. I’m proud of our kids for finding a way to win.
