National Nonprofit Petco Love Invests in Lawrence County (KY) Humane Society To Save and Improve the Lives of Pets in Lawrence County
Louisa, KY (April 13, 2023) – Lawrence County (KY) Humane Society is set to receive a $7,500 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love in support of their lifesaving work for animals in Lawrence County, Kentucky.
Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $350 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like ours — across North America, with 6.7 million pets adopted and counting.
“Our investment in Lawrence County (KY) Humane Society is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We recently launched Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses pet image technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”
“This grant will enable us to continue our on-going efforts to help provide assistance to low-income families in getting their family pets (cats only) spayed and neutered. In addition, we will be able to continue our community wide efforts at reducing the number of unwanted litters for free roaming community cats through Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR). The support from Petco Love will make healthier, happier, family pets while reducing the number of cats and kittens coming into the animal shelter every year,” said Kimberly Perry, President of Lawrence County (KY) Humane Society.

About Lawrence County (KY) Humane Society
The Lawrence County Humane Society, Louisa, KY, was incorporated in 1990 by a small group of people who were concerned about the ever-growing stray animal population in their community. We work closely with the Animal Control Officer (ACO) to pick up stray animals, enforce county and city ordinances, and address cruelty to animal complaints. We strive to educate all age groups to promote humane attitudes and good treatment for all animals. And we work to reduce the over breeding of dogs and cats through public education programs and spay/neuter assistance programs.
