FIRST 5 DAYS OF JUNE BRINGS 5 DRUG ARRESTS IN LAWRENCE COUNTY BY LAWRENCE COUNTY SHERIFF AND LOUISA POLICE DEPARTMENTS

The first few days of June 2020 has seen our law enforcement in Lawrence County stepping back into making the efforts of catching illegal street hard narcotic drug selling operators, after the Covid-19 pandemic messed up everything for the last three months.

The system still is somewhat, and will likely again have more lock downs in the not so distant future; but the world still goes forward; as the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, and the Louisa Police Department getting arresting five people  in 4 drug bust arrests by both agencies (3 of those arrested in a pair of busts a couple of hours apart), in the first five days of this month.

The names of those five individuals who were arrested on drug charges were as the following:

Carlos Scott Hammond, 36, of Louisa, was arrested on June 1, 2020, at 8:19 P.M., by officer Greg Powers, of the Louisa Police Department, and was charged with:

• TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (> OR = 2 GRAMS METHAMPHETAMINE).

April L. Meeks, 40, of Louisa, was arrested on June 3, 2020, at 11:22 P.M., by the Louisa Police Department, and was charged with:

• OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER/INFLUENCE ALCOHOL/ DRUGS /ETC. .08 – 1ST OFFENSE,

• FAILURE TO PRODUCE INSURANCE CARD,

• POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

,• DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS,

• TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (< 10 D.U. DRUG UNSPECIFIED SCHEDULE 1& 2).

Brian Howell, 40, of Inez, Kentucky; was arrested on June 3, 2020, at 11:23 P.M., by deputy Everett Chase Kirk, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:

• TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (< 2 GRAMS METHAMPHETAMINE),

• TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE (HEROIN),

• TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE,

• PUBLIC INTOXICATION-CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (EXCLUDES ALCOHOL),

• POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA,

• DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS.

Rodney K. Robertson, 42, of Fort Gay, West Virginia; was arrested on June 4, 2020, at 2:05 A.M., by deputy Everett Chase Kirk, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:

• TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST OFFENSE (HEROIN),

• TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE,

• IMPORTING HEROIN:

• TRAFFICKING IN CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (< 4 GRAMS COCAINE),

Joshua Ray, 39, of Louisa, was arrested on June 5, 2020, at 1:27 A.M., by deputy Everett Chase Kirk, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department,& was charged with:

• REAR LICENSE NOT ILLUMINATED,

* TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE,

• FAILURE OF OWNER TO MAINTAIN REQUIRED INSURANCE/SECURITY, 1ST OFFENSE,

• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE – (HEROIN),

• POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

Carlos Scott Hammond, Brian Howell, and Rodney K. Robertson were transported and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, where they are still incarcerated, while April L. Meeks, and Joshua Ray were transported to the BSRDC, where they were lodged as well, but have since been released after posting their bond.
