2016 Health & Wellness Expo
Health and Wellness Expo 2016
The Lawrence County Health Action Team held their 7th annual Health and Wellness Expo at the LC Community Center on Saturday, April 16. The visitors enjoyed exhibits with health and fitness information from 25 area vendors. The Health Action Team also co-sponsors the Lawrence County 4-H 5K Clover Walk/Run occurring along with the Expo to raise funds for 4-H Camp.
Several vendors provided great door prizes and Louisa Food City awarded a grand prize of two tickets to the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Vendors also shared numerous items with the visitors including ink pens, note pads, live trees, garden seeds, first aid supplies, toothbrushes, water bottles, and many other gifts.
The visitors could participate in free health screenings provided by Three Rivers Medical Center, receive a free neck massage from Kayla Chevalier, enjoy fresh fruits and veggies served by Food City Produce Department and have delightful Pineapple Power Bites baked by Lawrence County Extension Service.
Our Team greatly appreciates all of the vendors, volunteers, and visitors who made our 2016 Health and Wellness Expo an enjoyable community event. We give a very special thank you to Jeremy and Ashley Sutherland for broadcasting the Expo live on My Town TV and YouTube.
“The Health Action Team was formed to address the health issues facing our county residents,” said Debbie Miller, Director of the Lawrence County Health Department. Members include Three Rivers Medical Center, Pathways, KY Cancer Program, KY Homeplace, Lawrence County School District, Extension Service, Health Department, and other interested individuals.
“We work long and hard getting ready for the Expo, and then after one morning of good times it’s over. We always think the one we just finished was “the best yet,” and this year was no exception,” said Pat Machir with the Health Department.
