Men's League Celebrates RED TEE TUESDAY At Eagle Ridge

The Lawrence County Men's Golf League at Yatesville State Park's Eagle Ridge celebrated the thirteenth week of the season on Tuesday June 26th by having each golfer hit their tee shot from the forward tee box on each of the back nine holes.  The event, known as red tee tuesday, had many of the golfers wondering what club to hit to start each hole of play but the closer proximity to the hole lead to several eagles, birdies and the lowest scores of the season.

Bobby Preece took full advantage of the shorter playing distance to each hole as he recorded one eagle and three birdies on his way to the low gross score of the event as he shot a four under par gross score of 32 to claim first place.  Glen Boyd, in his first night back from an extended illness, claimed second place by posting a two under par gross score of 34.  Rick Blankenship and Joey Stepp tied for third place at a one under par 35.

In low net scoring Rick Blankenship claimed first place with an eleven under par net score of  25. Bobby Preece was second in low net score with a nine under par net score of 27.  Glen Boyd and Sam Sumpter tied for third place as each golfer recorded a net eight under par 28.

In the skills competition Bobby Preece had the longest drive in the fairway on hole # 7.  Rick Blankenship was a double winner as he made the shot closest to the pin on hole # 8 and sank the longest putt on hole # 14.  Clyde Adkins had the shot closest to the pin on hole # 12.

The Men's Golf League competes Each Tuesday evening at Yatesville's Eagle Ridge through August 14, 2012.

Dan PreeceDan PreeceBill HardinBill Hardin

Two golfers did what thousands have tried but never done when they posted holes-in-one at Eagle Ridge Golf Course at Yatesville Lake State Park.

Dan Preece made his third hole in one of his golfing career on Sunday, June 24th. Dan aced the #17 hole from the #3 tee which plays 157 yards.

He fired his 6 iron right at the hole where it landed just short, took one hop and right into the hole! Lindy Lick was his witness.

Then Bill Hardin of Louisa aced the #8 par three on Tuesday, June 26 at Eagle Ridge Golf Course!  Bill hit his 8 iron from the #5 tee box which plays 122 yards.  Witness to his great shot was James Chaffin, Leon Justice and Scott Marcum.

This is Bill's second hole in one of his career.  He aced the #3 hole at Eagle Ridge which plays 176 yards from the #3 tees back in 2006.

Congrats Dan and Bill!
