LOUISA, KY -- For the first time ever Lawrence Co. Baseball program hosted a Camp and you couldn’t have asked for better weather as the camp hosted 40 future Bulldogs for three hours each morning the last three days.

The kids, ranging from six to 12 years old spent time on Randy Keeton Field learning from the Lawrence Co. coaches, plus current and former Bulldog players as well.

The kids begin each day at 9:00 am with stretching and throwing then into individual defensive position drills including infield and outfield in which every camper goes through every position on the field.

After a short break the campers went into base running and hitting drills, then it was on to pitching and catching before the kids were split up into age level scrimmages at the end of each day.

COACH'S COMMENTS

“... I wasn’t sure what to expect because we haven’t done anything like this before and man I was pleasantly surprised to see the campers with smiling faces bright and early Monday morning. The kids were eager to learn and very motivated from the start.”

“...The campers really look up to our kids and even come to a lot of the ballgames when they aren’t playing and to see those kids faces when around the players it’s a sight to see.”

“... I think our coaches and players learned just as much from the kids as they did from us. Coming off a tough loss to Paintsville late Friday night into Saturday morning I wasn’t sure how our kids would react and boy they showed us something this week. Even three seniors, Kade Sword, Peyton Cyrus and Brad Parks, that didn’t have to come out showed up and were all smiles. I also want to thank three guys from past Bulldog teams, Austin Bailey, Julius Music and Shane Pack who came out to help.”

“... I also want to thank Angel Derifield and Melinda Feltner for handling the registration and fretting of the campers plus the parents who brought their kids on a week day in the middle of the summer! It really shows dedication on their part.”
