Osborn challenger keeps low profile;

WE FOUND TERRY WEBB!

With just 20 days left until the 2018 Ky. Primary election, I think it's time we get down to business in selecting who will lead our county into the next four years and the future.

Judge Executive

So far, not much luck with the judge/executive candidates.

In county government the judge/executive (I remember when they called them the "county judge" and they had judicial power) is the top member of the fiscal court and has hiring and firing powers and the responsibility to make the budget work.

In the 2018 race there has been much less "talk" and campaigning than I would have thought when there are seven candidates seeking the $85,000 position held by incumbent John Osborne, who because of seniority makes closer to $90,000.

Osborne would appear to be the one to beat in this race with a head start in staff and administration connections alone.

He has refused to answer our question concerning what needs to be done to attract industry to Lawrence County. I suppose he is letting his record stand for itself -- or more likely he is not tech savvy enough to send an email.

'Challenge'r Webb straight to the point

Challenger Terry Webb was a real "challenge" for our staff to catch up with for a photo and interview. He said he works a long day and has not been able to campaign much. He does not have a FB page or website and uses cell phone which is not in the directory.

But we met up with him last week, Here is what the Lazer's Tane' Woods Mosley got from the talk:

Terry Webb, 61 is a candidate for Lawrence County Judge Executive. Webb is a lifelong resident of Lawrence County, raised in Little Cat and remains a resident of Fallsburg.

Terry's daughters and grandchildren, Back row - Erica Webb, Terry Webb, Brittany Kitts Front row - Dawson, Dane, Ani, and EmalynnTerry's daughters and grandchildren, Back row - Erica Webb, Terry Webb, Brittany Kitts Front row - Dawson, Dane, Ani, and Emalynn

He is retired from the Kentucky Division of Forestry after working 40 years, then decided to go back to work part time for them and in his spare time he is also a farmer and was on the Fallsburg Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years.

Terry has two daughters, Erica Webb and Brittany Kitts and 3 grandchildren.

When asked his reasons for running for Judge Executive, he stated, “I am new to politics but I am also willing to do whatever it takes to get grants and jobs into Lawrence County.

*  We have county roads that are almost beyond repair and without good roads, how can jobs come in to our area?

*  I am not sure of a solution to the drug problem in our area but I am also willing to do anything necessary to assist with curing that.

*  I bring to the table a work ethic instilled by my family and that is the key to progress. I want Lawrence County to be better for EVERYONE!

REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES:

REPUBLICAN JUDGE/EXEC. CANDIDATES PRIMARY 2018: TOP ROW, L TO R, Phil Carter, Millard F. Cox, Charlie France II, and Earl Boggs. Bottom row, L to R Vince Doty, and James A. Perry. REPUBLICAN JUDGE/EXEC. CANDIDATES PRIMARY 2018: TOP ROW, L TO R, Phil Carter, Millard F. Cox, Charlie France II, and Earl Boggs. Bottom row, L to R Vince Doty, and James A. Perry.

Phillip Carter, is a former judge/executive and the perceived favorite in this race that is hard to gauge because of the number of newcomers.

Other than Carter and candidate Earl Boggs, a two time magistrate from Blaine, none of the six candidates who are vying for the opportunity to unseat two term judge John Osborne in the November General Election has run a county-wide race before. Boggs has also never run county-wide.

And only candidate Charlie France II has answered our call for a plan to help bring jobs and business to Lawrence County. You can see his information HERE.

If any of the candidates sends their ideas or at least information to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , we will be glad to post it, but we wanted the public to at least see what you look like.

Osborn lied to me. He is not a man of his word. Look at Fullers Ridge, his daughter's end in good shape the rest pot holes and cave offset. Osborn makes upwards of $70,000 a year all of his staff makes a bundle too, so guess that's why they can't fix roads.

Vote for people who will do their job not because you personally like them .For example I like our judge executive , he has always been nice to me and my family and we would call him a friend but on the other hand what actually has he done for our county ...? I mean look at our county roads when was the last time they was all worked on ??? How many times since he has been in office have you seen our county workers out working on our roads , most I've seen them do is work at our county garage or out at the lake, and that's all good but what about our roads some of them out in the county are in terrible condition , and it's not the county workers fault by no means it's our judge's responsibility to assign these jobs. I think we have really lost touch in what a county judge executive's job actually is here . Just something to think about Lawrence Countians . When casting your vote don't let it be personal let it be business if you want a change and improvement to our county.

[quote name="Concerned citizen"] You all are wasting your time and money on something that is not gonna work , I am a recovering drug addict ... and back when I was using the last thing I had on my mind was exchanging my needle , and not just me the people I was using with wouldn't of went and exchanged theirs either because we was way too scared to let everybody know we was using . But I understand the concern about needle randomly laying around in parks and sides of our roadways. It would be a better idea to put boxes out for users to expose of their needles, that would work better. I understand the concern about spreading diseases but I'm positive that they will not exchange their needles, it would be nice if they would though but you're living in a fantasy land thinking this will happen.

The France boy is too young and green for the job right now. He needs a little more maturity before he could be judge. He's a good boy just not ready for the job yet.

Right, hows that maturity worked out so far? Same old stale, stuck in the past, bad business management, dry county folks, the old politicians have kept LC smothered for decades. Look around, lol.

What about the Sheriff's race, due we really want someone who can't take care of their own finances, 2 of them have filed bankruptcy, so I for one wouldn't want them taking care of my tax dollars.

What I post is the truth. Thank you for confirming what I said was true !!! HE SAID HE WAS FOR IT...duh. It can come back up before the fiscal court again soooo he would be for it if elected. quote name="Leroy"]Quoting Yvonne Davis:

Charlie France II has already said he’s for a needle exchange program. Remember that if you don’t want that junk in our county.

You post some of the most negative comments on here.

If I remember right, he said he was for it, but said it's time to move on as LC has already voted 'no' on it. Don't tell half the story in an attempt to make someone look bad. Charlie seems like a very intelligent man who has great ideas for LC.

Your son in law Heath only Leader with any sense. Him and our superintendent. They are only officials who stood up to drug bunch. Don’t know why he didn’t run for Judge. Last good Judge we had was Dave Compton. Is there a way to impeach the Republican that wins primary and put Heath on there against do nothing John?

Preston for judge, come on. He went bankrupt with his company in Paintsville. He’s never mentions that though.

Ask the EXPERTS if needle exchange programs work. All you idiots have is OPINIONS based on absolutely nothing. When you’re an adult and you literally push statistics and science aside because of your biased small town ignorance. The experts say you’re WRONG, but I guess ignorance is your strong suit. You’re literally saying Dr’s and experts in the drug addiction field are wrong, when they’re making their decisions based on science and facts. Idiots. You could have a Dr staring you in the face and you’d say, “well I don’t know why, but you’re wrong.” Lmao get a life dummy.

I have known Terry Webb and his family for 30 or more yrs. Personally speaking i do believe he would do great! We need someone who isn't in the political circle. No you won't see him right in the middle of Louisa everyday being fake and up in our faces trying to get us to vote for him. That is not the kind of man he is. He is straight forward and i do believe that is what we need in our county. Just my opinion.

Well Judge Osborne has done nothing look at our roads, they are absolutely horrible if you don't believe me go check it out for yourself, go take a drive on Fuller Ridge or Melody Mountain or Little Cat and probably many more . It's a shame pot holes that tear your car all to pieces ... where actually did our tax money go .. cause it sure didn't go to our roads ? Vote him out ... get someone in there that will fix our roads!! As for the needle exchange thing I seriously doubt a drug addict is going to go exchange their needle ... you all are just wasting your time on that ... seriously !

Slim Pickins for Judge..that’s what we need:

1. Judge that can’t use computer or know his way to Frankfurt

2. Judge that can’t control temper...maybe he might go fight the state folks for us

3. Judge that don’t know blood pressure cuff from drain pipe

4. Judge that flunked out of Blaine school

5. Judge that runs a pawnshop that takes advantage of pill heads and buys us citizens stolen stuff.

Gallie Jr would make us a good Judge. This bunch ain’t worth a sh$t

-3 #5 Answer this 2018-05-03 16:08
The candidates need to answer the question on the Lazer if they are for or against the needle exchange program. This is a if issue with our county and needs to be addressed pubically. If the candidates cannot answer this then they do not need to be judge. John Osborne has already answered by turning it down.
