FREE SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM @ BLAINE ON WEDNESDAYS

BLAINE, Ky. -- Lawrence County Food Bank and Unity Baptist Church are partnering to provide lunches and activities for children one day a week in Blaine this summer!

Rachel Wheeler of the Food Bank was notified last week that two donors wanted to provide summer meals for the kids in Blaine this year.

Ms. Wheeler, who worked with the Summer Feeding program last summer at the Fire Department, said that she averaged feeding 15-20 kids at the Fire Department once a week and was disappointed that the program wasn’t going to be available for them this summer.

But thankfully, due to the donations, meals will now be provided on Wednesdays at the Unity Baptist Church. Ms. Wheeler said that if there is a good response from the community and lots of kids show up, then they may be able to increase the number of days that they provide the meals!

The Blaine Summer Meal Program will begin Wednesday, June 6th at the Unity Baptist Church and meals will be served from 11 am to 12 pm. Meals will be provided every Wednesday and Unity Baptist Church members will provide activities for all the kids.

Unity Baptist Church will also provide rides to and from the meals if necessary.

Please contact Ms. Rachel Wheeler at 606-624-5353 or Daniel Castle, Unity Church at 606-225-7252 if you have any questions.

What about the rest of the week? Come on guys.

What an idiot. If they did 7 days a week, you'd complain about not providing breakfast or dinner. For your information, they are also sending home food boxes as well. What are you doing to make a difference keyboard warrior?

Hey Hungry! Please contact Ms. Wheeler if you are willing to make a donation to help feed every day. Please know that the money that is paying for the food is a PERSONAL donation ... not from a business or an organization. And the church is picking up the bill for the gas that the van uses to pick up the kids so I am sure that they also could use some of your donation to assist them. Please don’t criticise people who are volunteering their time and money to help others if you aren’t willing to do the same.....
