Paul E. Wheeler


With much sorrow we announce the passing of Paul E. Wheeler on March 9, 2011 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Ky. The funeral will be Saturday, March 12, at First Baptist Church in Louisa with burial to follow at Castle's Cemetery in Blaine, Ky.

He was born to Emma Bayes Wheeler and Cheatwood Wheeler on September 25, 1935. He was a retiree of of the road construction department. He was a member of the Louisa City Council, an active community volunteer and a proud member of the First Baptist Church in Louisa.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Betsy Ann Ward, of Louisa, Ky.; two daughters Sheryl L. Wellman ( married to Luther Wellman, Jr.) of Louisa, Ky., and April R. Wheeler of Louisa, Ky.; one brother Elwood Wheeler of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Willy Jane Jitters of Daytom, Ohio and Janet Gilliam of Flatwoods, Ky.; three grandchildren, Luke Wellman of Louisa, Ky., Eli Combs, Jr. Falcon, Ky. and Ashley May of Staffordsville, Ky., and two great grandchildren, Hunter Salyers and Heath May.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jess Wheeler, Earl Wheeler and Jeff Wheeler; two sisters, Irene Thompson and Jean Lester.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 12, 2011 at Louisa First Baptist Church with Bro. Ric Frazier and Bro. Lenny Wheeler officiating. 

Viewing for family and friends will be at Young Funeral Home in Louisa 4:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Luther Wellman, Randy Marcum, Eli Combs Jr., Michael Dingess Travis Shortridge, Denver Meade, and Jerry Robinson will serve as pallbearers.

Bobby Branham


Bobby Branham, 74, of Adams, Ky. passed away today, Tuesday March 8, 2011 at the V.A. Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. after an extended illness.

Born September 22, 1936 in Louisa, Ky., a son of the late Earl Branham, Sr. and Alma Lemaster Branham, he was a retired Operating Engineer spending much of his career with Ross Bros. Construction Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, Janice Napier Branham of Adams, Ky.; three daughters, Tara (Lonnie) Cook of Adams, Ky., Tana (Fred) Banks, Louisa, Ky., and Tongi (Kevin) Thompson, Dry Ridge, Ky.; three sons, Bobby Branham, Jr, Louisa, Ky., Barry Branham, Austin, Tx., and Brandy (Jennifer) Branham, Ft. Gay, W.Va.; five sisters, Evelyn Turner, Wellsville, N.Y., Mary Bradley, Louisa, Ky., Bonnie Bryan, Catlettsburg, Ky., Ruth Ann Mathieu, Louisa, Ky., and Elaine Thompson, Prichard, W.Va.; one brother, Earl Branham, Jr., Louisa, Ky.; 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Young Funeral Home Chapel on Friday March 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm Thursday March 10, 2011 at the funeral home.




Phyllis Ann Bowen


Phyllis Ann Bowen, 69, of Blaine, died Saturday in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

She was born Feb. 27, 1942, in West Virginia.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Bowen.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville. Burial will be in Bowen Family Cemetery at Blaine.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
