Darrell Kitts

1956 -- 2018

 

Darrell Kitts, 62, of Fort Gay, WV went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, KY.

Mr. Kitts was born March 4, 1956 to the late Wayne and Eula (Jackson) Kitts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Kitts and Ralph Kitts.

Survivors include his children Chrissy Dillon, Kimberly Hitchcock, Darrell Joe Kitts, Jr., and Danielle Green; grandchildren Aleia Dillon and Braelie Hitchcock; brothers Tommy (Annalee) Kitts, James (Carol) Kitts, and Bobby Kitts; sisters Patty (Sam) Lycans, Betty (Ray) Thompson, and Doris "D.J." Robinson; and sister in laws Faye Kitts and Beulah Kitts.

Funeral services for Mr. Kitts will be Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 12:00pm at the Young Funeral Home Chapel with brother Luther Dingess officiating. Burial will follow in the Kitts Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 6:00PM - 9:00PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel.

Edris Fern Compton Short 

1926 -- 2018

 

Edris Fern Compton Short, 91, of Louisa, KY went home to be with the Lord on Friday April 13, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Fern was born Oct. 16, 1926 in Lawrence County, the daughter of the late William David and Laura Vanhorn Compton. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Homer Drexel Short who died in 2008; her siblings Avis Foley, Jack Compton, Glenn Compton, Iris Freelander, Nick Compton, and Ned Compton, Craig Compton, and Jay Compton; and her father and mother in law Jack and Lucy Short.

Fern was a retired Medical Receptionist working many years at the Louisa Medical Clinic, a member of the Louisa United Methodist Church, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include three sons; Michael Ray Short and wife Joy of Louisville, KY, Roger Jack Short of Louisa, and Homer Drexel Short II and wife Lori of Naples, Florida; a brother David Compton, four sisters Maris Lucas, Joy McComas, Corlis Barnette, and Janis Hayes; grandchildren Aaron Short, Alexander Short, Krista Reeves, Shane Short and Trace Short; and great grandchildren Bailey Marie Reeves, Elizabeth Jane Reeves, Elly Dawn Reeves, Sean Thomas Short, and Laura Addison Short.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Louisa United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Smith and Rev. Guy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Compton Cemetery Louisa, KY.

Friends may visit the family on Monday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home.

Barbara Ellen Hicks Brooks

1942 -- 2018

 

Barbara Ellen Hicks Brooks, 75, of Louisa, KY died April 11, 2018 at her home after an extended illness.

Barbara was born September 29, 1942 in Lincoln County, WV to the late Bill and Chessie Hicks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Byrd Brooks; two brothers Eddie Hicks of Harts Creek, WV and Willie Hicks of Chesapeake, OH; and a great grandson Spencer Smith of Catlettsburg, KY. 

Barbara is survived by her son William Brooks (Sandy) of Catlettsburg, KY; two daughters, Joyce Castle (David) of Louisa, KY and Jeanie Brooks Smith of Louisa, KY; two granddaughters, Erin Brooks Smith (Phillip) and Brandy Brooks Vernatter (Ryan) of Catlettsburg, KY; three great grandchildren Shelby Smith, Rylee Vernatter, and Ryan Hunter Vernatter of Catlettsburg, KY; two sisters Joann Jones (Tom) of Monroe MI and Helen Darby (Jim) of Louisa, KY and one caregiver Rose Smith. 

Graveside services will be conducted Friday, April 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Buchanan Chapel Church Cemetery.
