The west elementary is a depressing place to walk into whether you're a student, faculty member, or parent. It has served its purpose for several decades but with its condition and constantly in need of repairs on many different fronts, it's well past the time to do the right thing and shut it down. Please keep the plan in motion to build a new one, and if you build it on the same property as the high/middle school it will solve the horrible bussing and pick-up issues in town not to mention saving a lot of money by being able to bus the high school students, middle school students, and elementary students in one fell swoop.

Everyone needs to remember the school board will try and sneak the nickel tax on the ballot during this years election.

What would be wrong with that? I'd vote for it!! If anyone is the least bit concerned with the economy of Lawrence County, they would vote for it!! If you don't want your kids and grandkids to get an education that will compete with the rest of the US, don't vote for it!! Just shows that you don't care one single bit about a child's education and more about the dollar. You can't take money with you when you die but you can leave a legacy of helping a child. What industry wants to locate where the schools are rotting down and the kids have allergy trouble every day just trying to get an education???

1.How will a new school benefit Lawrence County?
2.Why can't they get an education in the buildings we have now? My kids did and they are very successful.
3.You are exactly right, I can't take my money with me but I can leave it to MY kids.
4.I attended all of these schools in Louisa and turned out fine and also successful with no allergies.

I will agree that we do need new schools but the timing is very bad with the economy the way it is. I would be alright with this if more people were not out of work in the county. As far as Lawrence County growing, unless a few families stop trying to control everything that comes in, it will not grow as it should.
